eRA Commons Implementation of Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR)
The pilot for RPPR system feature in eRA Commons system will replace eSNAP for submission of Research Performance Progress Reports in early 2012. Full implementation will occur in summer 2012.
eRA Commons Mandating Use of No-Cost Extension (NCE) in Commons
NIH plans to mandate use of the No-Cost Extension feature in eRA Commons when you need to notify NIH that you will exercise your one-time authority to extend (without additional funds) the final budget period of your grant. The new policy requiring its use will go into effect on October 1, 2011. As of that date, NIH will no longer accept these notifications via other communication channels.

NIH Updates Submission Instructions for the Public Access Policy
NIH made several updates to the NIH Public Access Web page to clarify the submission process. The Web site explains that there are four methods to ensure that a manuscript is submitted to PubMed Central in compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy. These methods vary based on the version of the paper submitted, and the actions undertaken by the author and publisher.
