Memphis, Tenn. (May 29, 2008) – Barry Gerald,
MD, interim chairman, Department of Radiology, Steve J. Schwab, MD, executive
dean of the College of Medicine for the University of Tennessee Health Science
Center (UTHSC) and Meri Armour, MSN, MBA, president and chief executive officer
for Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center, have announced the appointment of Harris L. Cohen, MD, as medical director of the
Pediatric Radiology Department at Le Bonheur and executive vice chair in the
Department of Radiology in the College of Medicine at UTHSC.
Dr. Cohen is a 1976 graduate of the State University
of New York (SUNY)
The national search for this position was conducted
by Parker Executive Search and was led by Russell W. Chesney, MD, professor and
chair of the Department of Pediatrics at UTHSC and chairman of Pediatrics at Le
Bonheur.
“We are tremendously excited about Dr. Cohen’s
arrival. He is an experienced leader in Pediatric Radiology with an
impressive track record of success. We look forward to his leadership in
helping us build our new facility at Le Bonheur,” Dr. Chesney observed.
Dr. Cohen has more than 230 publications and some 150
published abstracts to his credit. In addition, he has co-written or
co-edited eight textbooks. He is currently the editor-in-chief of the

Bonheur. Dr. Cohen's leadership will guide the department in providing
quality services for our patients and supporting the work of Le Bonheur's
