invite you to a live campus telecast of

‘Methodological and Conceptual Issues in Conducting Research on Racial/Ethnic Discrimination in Health Care Delivery’

WHY:  The purpose of the live telecast is to expand interest, procedural approaches and submission of quality research grant applications that examine racial/ethnic discrimination in health care disparities.  It will be aired nationwide with an opportunity for local input.

 

WHO: UT Health Science Center Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and the Consortium for Health Education, Economic Empowerment, and Research (CHEER) are sponsors for the telecast in this region. The nationwide telecast is sponsored by National Institutes of Health affiliates: National Cancer Institute; National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute; National Institute of Mental Health; National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases; and National Institute on Drug Abuse.   Who should attend?

 

  • Individuals who want to understand why health disparities exist
  • Researchers interested in identifying ways to assess health disparities
  • Health care administrators, researchers and practitioners interested in strategies for implementing interventions or T2 translational research on health disparities

 

WHAT:  The specific objectives of the technical workshop are:

  • To examine the state of research in the United States and identify gaps related to the role that racial/ethnic discrimination plays in the receipt of health care
  • To establish a research agenda that identifies feasible, prioritized questions relevant to the role of racial/ethnic discrimination in health care delivery
  • To improve technical and grant-writing skills of applicants to increase funding
  • To develop a community of scholars interested in research on this topic
