UT Health Science Center Officially Opens Cancer Research Building

Where:          Cancer Research Building, Corner of Union and Manassas

 

Why:              According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 28,500 new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the state of Tennessee in 2007.  In this same year, nearly 13,000 Tennesseans will die from cancer, ranking our state 5^th nationally in cancer death rate. 

The Cancer Research Building is the first research building to be constructed on the UT Health Science Center Memphis campus in 17 years.  Designed to promote collaborative research among investigators from diverse scientific disciplines, the state-of-the art laboratories will focus on discovering novel approaches to treating adult cancer.
