Free Solar Photovoltaic Technology Training Course Offered in Memphis
Six-day course begins January 24 at Fogelman
Conference Center
KNOXVILLE – Businesses or persons interested in learning the basics
of Solar Installation and Photovoltaic (PV) Technology can now take advantage
of a free six-day training course at the Fogelman Conference Center, 330
Innovation Drive on the University of Memphis campus.
The training, offered jointly by
The University of Tennessee’s Center for Industrial Services, Pellissippi State
Technical Community College and the Tennessee Solar Institute, will begin
January 24 and run through January 29.
The training course focuses on
many different aspects of the Solar PV field, including:
• PV history and
market developments
• Solar concepts
and terminology
• Onsite PV system
configurations and components
• PV safety
At
the conclusion of the course, there is an entry-level Certificate of Knowledge
exam, endorsed by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners
(NABCEP). NABCEP is the “gold standard” for PV and solar thermal installation
certification and it offers certification and certificate programs to renewable
energy professionals throughout North America.
The
training times are 8 am to 5 pm each day, with lunch provided. Please note: a
pre-screening exam is required for all registrants. Interested parties should
contact their local TN Career Center to take the Career Readiness Exam (CRC) -
a gold certificate is required to register for the solar training course.
