Selects Parker Executive Search to Aid UTHSC Chancellor Search
KNOXVILLE
-- The University of Tennessee has selected the firm Parker Executive Search to
aid in the search for a new chancellor at the UT Health Science Center.
Parker
Executive Search, based in Atlanta, won the request-for-proposals bid, and the
firm's senior vice president, Gary L. Daugherty, will serve as the consultant,
the chancellor search committee announced today at its meeting in Memphis.
A search
committee was appointed by Interim UT President Jan Simek in December. William
Evans, director and chief executive officer of St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital, and Linda Hendricks, chief human resources officer for the UT System,
serve as co-chairs of the committee. The 20-member committee also includes
representatives from UTHSC, the medical community and business leaders.
Daugherty
will work with the committee to recruit candidates, narrow the candidate field
and vet candidates.
The
committee has established a timeline to make recommendations to Simek, so that
the new chancellor can be in place by summer 2010.
The new
chancellor will serve as chief executive officer of the UTHSC campus in Memphis
and its satellite locations in Chattanooga, Knoxville, Jackson and elsewhere in
the state. UTHSC enrolls more than 2,700 students and has more than 4,000
employees.
The
chancellor will replace Hershel P. Wall, who served in that role from April
2007 to September 2009. Steve Schwab, executive dean for the UT College of
Medicine, currently is serving as interim chancellor.
