METHODIST HEALTHCARE TO AIR DOCUMENTARY HIGHLIGHTING
The documentary
chronicles the real-life stories of four patients as neurosurgeon Allen Sills,
M.D., takes them through their various stages of care over five days. Dr. Sills is a Johns Hopkins-educated and
trained neurosurgeon and an assistant professor in the Department of
Neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He is a neurosurgeon with Semmes-Murphey
Neurological and Spine Institute, the largest neurological physician practices
in the country.
“It’s so
exciting to be able to bring these compelling stories to television viewers
across the Mid-South so that they can see first-hand the excellent work going
on in the Methodist University Hospital Neuroscience Institute,” said Caroline
Freeman, administrator of the program.
“Through this behind-the-scenes documentary, we are able to highlight
our highly-trained multidisciplinary staff, our state-of-the-art technology,
the latest and best treatments available for treating brain tumors, and the
compassionate care we render.”
Brain
tumors are quite prevalent in this part of the country, according to Dr. Sills,
and
“It is a
privilege to work in a teaching hospital where patients have access to
nationally and internationally recognized experts, top-notch residents, and the
latest technology and research,” said Dr. Sills. “I would feel comfortable for any member of
my family to be treated here, knowing they would be receiving the very best
care.”
