Description: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is inviting applications for a clinically focused, academically oriented surgical pathologist and cytopathologist with subspecialty interest in any of the following areas: gynecologic, gastrointestinal, or genitourinary pathology. Additional interests and/or expertise in biobanking and translational pathology or digital pathology is welcome.

The successful candidate will be recruited at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. They will be employed through University Clinical Health and spend the majority of time at Regional One Health (ROH), an acute care training site for UTHSC with over 300 staffed beds and associated primary care clinics. ROH houses many specialized services including a burn center, a level 1 trauma center, complex obstetrics, neonatology, cancer, and an HIV/AIDS special care unit. Together with clinical volume received from a large regional reference laboratory, the pathologist will join a team at ROH handling 17,000 surgical and 20,000 cytologies.

UTHSC Pathology is a rapidly growing academic department. The Pathology Department serves multiple institutions, including the Regional One Medical Center, Methodist Le Bonheur Health system and the Veterans Administration Hospital. There is an active residency program in which residents have an opportunity to participate in clinical service, handling almost 200,000 cases. Memphis is a medium-sized city with an attractive 4-season climate and an international reputation for its local culture. It consistently scores very highly on national measures of affordability. There are many attractive, diverse residential neighborhoods and an excellent range of local schools.
