Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Department of Preventive Medicine, is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenured or tenure-track, state-supported, faculty position at the level of associate or full professor. The successful candidate will have a clinical research program focused on key pediatric health outcomes. Although this is primarily a research position, the successful candidate is also expected to contribute to the academic mission of Department of Preventive Medicine and the Division of Epidemiology.

Qualified candidates may assume a leadership role within the CANDLE Study (Conditions Affecting Neurocognitive Development and Learning in Early Childhood), a longitudinal birth cohort of 1500 mother-child dyads based in Shelby County, TN (www.candlestudy.com). UTHSC and Le Bonheur Children?s Hospital are also expanding their pediatric DNA biorepository for prospective investigation of genetic susceptibility and pediatric health outcomes. Collaborations with St. Jude Children Research Hospital and the West Cancer Center may be feasible for applicants interested in pediatric cancer research.

Minimum requirements include a doctorate in epidemiology, public health, medicine, nursing, health psychology, or a similar area. Applicants should also have a track record of peer-reviewed publications, grant awards, and academic leadership meriting appointment at associate or full professor; experience proposing and implementing epidemiologic and clinical studies including observational studies, diagnostic studies, or randomized trials; experience working with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body; and excellent communication skills.
