Description: The University of Tennessee College of Medicine seeks a diverse pool of nominees and applicants for the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine on the main campus of the Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. A substantial record of leadership and scholarship in an academic Department of Medicine is required. The Chair will oversee all activities of the department of to ensure that the goals and objectives of the department are met. The Department of Medicine consists of 11 subspecialty divisions with active residency and fellowship programs as well as a large and varied clinical practice. The Department maintains an active bench and patient-based research portfolio. The Chair must be capable of providing energetic leadership and articulation of a vision for the significant growth and development of this department.

Applicants should possess an M.D. degree or equivalent, be board-certified in Medicine and eligible for licensure in Tennessee. Additional subspecialty training is welcomed, but not required. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate should have the academic and professional experience necessary to qualify at the rank of Professor, and possess leadership abilities, a commitment to education, research, and mentoring, clinical and management strengths, have national involvement in professional organizations, and knowledge of current professional trends in Medicine and current trends in the professional practices of health care.
