Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Pharmacy seeks an experienced and accomplished leader to serve as the next Chair for the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science. The College faculty are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The College has a statewide presence and the Chair's duties extend to all three of the College's campuses: Memphis, Knoxville, and Nashville. Thus, s/he will be responsible for recruiting outstanding faculty and staff as well as leadership for curricular development, accreditation, and growth of the Department. Specifically, the successful candidate will be involved in engaging faculty teaching in an integrated curriculum that elevates student learning and will be responsible for ensuring that department members create and sustain excellence in research and scholarship. Additionally, s/he will develop and enhance relationships with internal and external constituencies, including health-system organizations and pharmacies throughout the state. The Chair reports to the Dean and is a member of the College's Executive Committee.
The Chair will be based at the College's Memphis UTHSC Campus, which is located in a modern 184,000 square-foot building in the Medical District. The successful candidate will be eligible for pharmacy licensure in Tennessee and will possess credentials to qualify for the rank of full professor and tenure at the College. The candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to listen and understand the needs of administration, faculty, staff, and students; the savvy to build positive relationships with and among internal and external constituents; and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity. A track record of leadership in pharmacy education, research, service, and administration is strongly desired.
