Job Title: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
PIN Number: #23000
Job Type: Full-Time
Category: FACULTY
Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Kaplan-Amonette Department of Dermatology in Memphis seeks an academic procedural dermatologist to join its growing faculty. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position at the assistant professor level. Successful candidates must have an MD or DO degree and be eligible for full, unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Tennessee. Candidates must be board-certified/board-eligible and must have completed fellowship training in procedural dermatology/Mohs surgery.

Dermatology is a relatively new department at UTHSC and we are rapidly growing. Our faculty now includes 8 full or part-time members, three of whom are dermatopathologists. We seek a procedural dermatologist to build our surgical division and lead our related educational efforts. There is ample opportunity for clinical research and there is potential for collaboration in other departments, as well as other health care fields represented on campus, including dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and allied health. We have a long-standing, very successful residency program (first established in 1967), and all faculty are active in resident and medical student education.

The ideal candidate for this position is a surgical dermatologist who is interested in providing a wide variety of surgical/procedural services. Experience with oculoplastic surgery is highly desirable. This candidate will establish and run a Mohs lab, as well as develop other procedural services which may include laser and cosmetic procedures.

Our new academic offices and clinical space are together on the medical center campus; several regional medical centers including the Memphis VA Medical Center, Le Bonheur Children?s Hospital and St. Jude Children?s Cancer Research Hospital are all in close proximity.

Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.

Interested parties should submit their CV to: Dr. Tejesh Patel, Assistant Professor, University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, Kaplan-Amonette Department of Dermatology.
