Description: The UT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER (UTHSC) College of Nursing invites applications for the full time position of Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Lab Nurse Practitioner in the Acute & Tertiary Care Dept.

The UTHSC embraces four missions: education, research, clinical care and institutional service. Responsibilities for this role include 95% clinical practice assignment which includes: functions as an Advanced Practice Nurse collaboratively with physician leadership of the Cardiac Cath Lab Department. Responsibilities include:

Responsible for patients admitted for cardiac catheterization:
Obtain consents, writes history and physical, progress notes and discharge summaries. Responsible for orders, performs, and interpret labs and diagnostic testing.
Available to assist with cath lab procedures.
Participate in running the bi-monthly cardiac catheterization clinic.

Collect data and assists in maintaining data collection forms.
Participates in planning, development, and presentation of research projects.

Quality Improvement:
Participates in ongoing QI measures in the cardiac cath lab
Organizes and participates in quarterly cath lab M and M meetings

Plans, provides, and coordinates patient/family education.
Provides education to CVICU, PICU, and floor nurses, residents, and fellows regarding management of cardiac patients? pre- and post-cardiac catheterization.

Solve unresolved patient issues including scheduling conflicts.
Facilitate admission, transfers, or discharges.
Reduce delays in service.
In addition, 5% educational responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair.
Minimal requirements include current RN and APN license in Tennessee, Master?s degree or higher in a nursing specialty. All degrees must be from an accredited program. Current DEA certification and three years of clinical practice experience at RN level. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Academic rank is based upon academic credentials.
