Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Department of Ophthalmology at the Hamilton Eye Institute, Memphis, TN, is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor to carry out an independent research program. Faculty rank is commensurate with experience and credentials. Ph.D. or M.D. candidates with strong research funding in retinal or ocular function and disease are encouraged to apply. Exceptional candidates with expertise in the fields of formulation engineering, pharmacokinetics/bio- distribution studies, and systems biology analyses of large datasets or other related areas of demonstrated excellence in translational concepts will also be considered. Candidates should have demonstrated potential for establishing a vigorous, independent research program (prior extramural funding desired).

Research strengths of current UTHSC vision researchers include genetics/genomics, stem cell biology, immunology, bioengineering, ocular trauma, neurodegeneration, age-related ocular disorders, vascular biology, glaucoma and diabetes. In addition to extensive shared resources available on campus, other research resources include access to substantial clinical material repositories, information technology collaborations with Oak Ridge National Laboratories, and a jointly sponsored UTHSC - St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital graduate program with opportunities to teach in graduate courses and sponsor graduate students.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and have completed postdoctoral training. Applicants must also be a United States citizen or be green card eligible.
