Special Instructions

We strongly advise that you choose to do an “Upgrade” during the installation process if you have Office 2007 already installed. We also strongly advise that you upgrade to Office 2007 first if you are currently running Office 2003. You may contact the Helpdesk to acquire Office 2007.

Reported Issues

  • We have had one user who lost their personal folders during this installation process. Be sure and back up all local Outlook folders (PST files).
  • Some individuals have found that they could not run Office 2010, or uninstall it after installing. Here is Microsoft's uninstall repair page for Office 2003, 2007, and 2010:
  • If you are having difficulty activating Office from off campus on a university owned computer, make sure and run the Cisco VPN. Once the VPN is running, run this script on the computer. A black screen will appear. Press any key to continue.

Download Office from the OIT Software Distribution site by logging in with a NetID, selecting "Microsoft" then the appropriate version for your system.
