Employee Behavioral Health

University Health Services Employee Health Center assists in meeting the behavioral health needs of UTHSC faculty and staff by providing psychiatric medication management and counseling services. These services are offered to employees with minimal out-of-pocket expense. For appointments and medication management, employees may call 901.448.5630.

UTHSC employees have access to unlimited counseling sessions when seen at University Health Services. Insurance coverage may impact employee financial responsibility. Employees have the option of obtaining five (5) free counseling sessions through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

How to Make an Appointment

For information or to schedule an appointment for Behavioral Health Services/Counseling, a full time Counseling Psychologist is available at University Health Services during typical work hours. Medication management is provided by designated Primary Care Providers. To schedule an appointment, please call 901.448.5630. Employees will be notified when patient portal scheduling is available.

Additional counseling services are available through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). To learn how to schedule an appointment through EAP, visit the UTHSC Human Resources webpage at https://www.uthsc.edu/hr/benefits/eap.php. As a result of Covid-19 and UTHSC policy regarding quarantining, counseling services are currently provided remotely as are some medication management services.

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is designed to provide free, confidential counseling to UTHSC employees and their eligible dependents. Employees and eligible dependents who are experiencing personal or workplace problems should contact Olivia Ralph, Compliance Coordinator, Office of Equity and Diversity, at 901.448.2112 or oralph@uthsc.edu for assistance. Additionally, the state of Tennessee's EAP Program provides free short-term counseling and brief legal advice for regular employees who are scheduled to work at least 75% (30 hours per week) time. The spouse and dependent children of an employee in this category also qualify for the free benefit. UTHSC employees may also contact EAP directly by calling 1.855.437.3486 for assistance.
