Toni Wade, BS, RHIA

Toni Wade is an adjunct faculty member of the UTHSC faculty. She has Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (HIM) from UTHSC. Her passion and consequently, her focus, has always been on the area of coding. Toni has worked in coding for 13 years. Toni started her coding career at the Regional One Medical Center (formerly the Med) as a Coder, then as a Coding Analyst before taking a remote position as a Coding Manager and later, a contract Coder. After graduation, Toni worked for a private Early Childhood Screening firm as the company’s Health Information Administrator. Toni worked for a Managed Care Organization as a Quality Improvement Specialist for a while before settling into her coding career. Toni’s expertise is in Emergency Room coding, including E/M leveling and injections and infusions. She has worked remotely since 2009 as a subcontractor.  She has worked for various clients around the U.S. has worked on many different clinical and data management systems and has spent a significant amount of her career training new employees. She is the newest addition to the adjunct faculty and began teaching in the program in fall 2018.  She will be teaching courses in coding and reimbursement.
