September 24, 2015, the Hamilton Eye Institute proudly welcomed the 18th Annual William N. Williford, MD, Distinguished Visiting Professor, renowned oculoplastic surgeon Philip L. Custer, MD, FACS, professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Custer presented extremely important new information on how to recognize and manage orbital tissue side effects of prostaglandin treatment. The following morning, he also presented lectures to our residents on universal protocols and safety procedures in eye surgery. His topics were extremely useful for improving clinical practice and led to lively discussion among the ophthalmologists and residents in attendance.

Dr. Custer expressed his gratitude to anterior segment and cataract surgeon William N. Williford, MD, a 1975 graduate of our residency program who established this endowed lectureship in 1997. Department Chair James C. Fleming, MD, FACS, and HEI Director Barrett G. Haik, MD, FACS, also thank Dr. Williford for his generous support of this program and Dr. Custer for presenting his outstanding lectures.
