The University of Tennessee Health Science Center Endocrinology/Lipoprotein Lab is a State of Tennessee, CLIA and CAP licensed medical laboratory. The UTHSC lab located on the UTHSC campus in Memphis, Tennessee, has been providing state of the art clinical and research services to the University of Tennessee, the Mid-South area, small communities, and national research institutions for over 25 years. Dr. Frankie Stentz, Associate Professor of Medicine-Endocrinology, is the licensed Medical Lab Director. Dr. Abbas Kitabchi, Professor of Medicine-Endocrinology, and Dr. Tom Hughes, Professor of Medicine-Endocrinology, are the Clinical Directors.
The lab performs tests for diabetes, thyroid function, bone metabolism, cardiac markers, inflammation and oxidative stress markers, reproductive endocrinology, lipid profiles, chemistry profiles, complete blood count, adrenal and pituitary function, anemia, and other analytes on human, some cell culture, and animal specimens. Services are provided to referring physicians and research investigators for human and animal research studies. No services are available for individuals except through their referring physician.
