Anaplastology and Ocularistry (Facial and Eye Prosthetics)

Available Services

Ocularistry

Both acrylic and silicone ocular (eye) prosthetics are available depending on the patient's individual needs and material sensitivities. Fabrication of an average ocular prosthetic requires three office visits. For patients outside the Memphis area, or patients who have difficulty arranging transportation to and from the clinic, one day services may be available depending on existing clinical schedules. Please call for more information.

Facial Prosthetics

Orbital (eye with lids and surrounding tissue), mid-face, nasal, and auricular (ear) prosthetics are also available. The application of state-of-the-art 3D scanning and printing technology, supplemented with exceptional artistry, produce prosthetics of superior esthetic quality.

Facial prosthetics take an average of 3-5 visits to complete. Three types of prosthetic retention are generally available depending on existing conditions:

  • Implant (Extra-Oral) Retention – Implantable devices surgically placed into bone can aid in prosthetic retention using magnets or clips.
  • Anatomic Retention – By capturing unique contours in the patient's own surface anatomy permit the adaptation of devices, such as hollow bladders, to aid in retention.
  • Adhesive Retention – The use of specially formulated adhesive products can provide extremely durable retention that has been well accepted by patients over the years.
