Dr. Mandrell’s responsibility is to provide professional and administrative oversight to the campus’ animal care program. He is Course Director for CMED 711. Relevant training and previous experience: D.V.M., UT Knoxville, 1984; Postdoctoral fellowship in Lab Animal Medicine, DCM, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD 1987-1989. Postdoctoral experience in lab animal medicine of 2 years with additional experience as Veterinary Medical Officer, USDA, 1985-1989 and Senior Staff Veterinarian for Laboratory Animals and Research facilities, USDA. Joined UT Memphis Veterinarian in June, 1991. ACLAM Diplomate since July 1991.

Dr. Hamilton’s responsibilities are primarily on the South Campus which includes the Nash, Wittenborg, and Cancer Research Building animal facilities. Dr. Hamilton is also responsible for the animal import and export services. He is the course director for CM 712 and CM 713. Relevant training and previous experience: D.V.M., Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, 1992; Postdoctoral training in Pharmacology and Therapeutics, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 1999-2004. University Veterinarian, McGill University 2004-2005. Post-doctoral residency training in Laboratory Animal Medicine, UT Memphis, 2005-2008. Joined UT Memphis as Assistant Professor in 2007. ACLAM Diplomate since 2009.

Dr. Jackson’s responsibilities are primarily on the North Campus which includes the Coleman and Molecular Science Animal Facilities. He is also responsible for the surgical, imaging, and technical services group.

Relevant training and previous experience: D.V.M., Auburn University, 1983; Companion animal practice 1983-2003; UT Technical Services Manager 2003-2007; UT Instructor/Clinical Veterinarian 2007-present.

Dr. Rehg is actively involved in the pathology aspects of the program and will provide clinical and pathology training at St. Jude. He is responsible for pathology training, including weekly pathology conferences at DCM. Dr. Rehg also lectures in all three courses (CM711, CM712 and CM713) that our department conducts. Dr. Rehg reviews pathology cases from both institutions with the trainees. He will also participate in research training if a fellow elects to conduct research in the St. Jude Comparative Medicine Laboratory.

Dr. Rehg has 30 years experience in LASM, comparative pathology and biomedical research, and is currently appointed full time as Director, Animal Resources Center, and Member of Comparative Medicine and Pathology, St. Jude Core Grant. He collaborates on NIH funded research projects in the departments of Immunology, Virology and Molecular Biology, Pathology, Pharmacology, and the Cardiopulmonary and Infectious Disease Division of the Child Health Sciences Department.
