Summer greetings from Memphis and your UTHSC Alumni and Annual Giving Team! You should have recently received a membership packet in the mail announcing our great alumni benefits. The best news is you earned the membership by being a graduate of the UT Health Science Center. There is no charge for your membership, just the hope that you will take a minute to go online and tell us your UTHSC story. Each day, I hear from students and alumni about the special times they had on our campus. Let us hear your story... you could be the next feature story in our alumni magazine! If you didn't receive a membership packet and benefits card, please email us so that we can let you know about your alumni benefits.
Chancellor Steve Schwab continues to attract some of the best talent to lead our colleges. Since our last issue, Dr. Schwab announced Donald Thomason, Ph.D., as the new dean of Graduate Health Sciences. In addition, we have broken ground on another state-of-the-art building, the Translational Science Research Building.
And speaking of campus, UTHSC legend Dr. Hershel P. Wall, who currently is sharing his talent by helping us in Development and Alumni Affairs, has been recognized as Chancellor Emeritus by UT System. Ken Brown, JD, MPA, Ph.D., who serves as Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operations Officer, has been named a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives (FACHE). This is one of the highest credentials a health care management professional can receive. Well deserved and congratulations, Drs. Wall and Brown!
Since our debut issue of Vital Signs, we have heard from many of you about how much you enjoyed the inaugural issue. Our goal is to continue sending you quarterly news from your alma mater. If you have comments, please let me know.
As we prepare for a great fall, please enjoy the remainder of your summer! We look forward to seeing you at an alumni event soon!
