The recordings on this site are designed to help increase the pronunciation of international students studying at the University of Tennessee. At this time, our sound library includes Thorndike’s 1000 frequently used words. The 1000 sentences were written and recorded by the late Dr. Bernard Silverstein.
Subsequent sound files will include lessons from the pronunciation classes given at the Hearing and Speech Center. In order to access these recording you will need to use your user ID and password. In addition, you will need to have RealPlayer installed on your computer.
To maximize the use of these lessons, it is recommended that you use your computer’s sound player and microphone. Listen to the model from the sound file and record your production on the sound player. Play each back and listen carefully in order to match your production to the model.
To access the recordings, you will need a UTK Unix account logon.
