Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®

There is an old saying: "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." Walk a Mile in Her Shoes(r) asks men to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. It's not easy walking in these shoes, but it's fun and it gets the community to talk about something that's really difficult to talk about: gender relations and sexual violence.

WIMS Brown Bag Lunch

One purpose of WIMS is to promote relationships between female faculty, junior faculty, students, and local professionals. We would like to establish an atmosphere of women helping women succeed through networking and mentorship relationships.

The WIMS Brown Bag Lunches are informal gatherings with small group discussions aimed at getting to know each other outside of the work setting. Some conversation topics are preplanned/facilitated, some are not. When you arrive, join whatever discussion you choose!

Discussion topics for Feb 7th:

  1. Peer feedback on your Curriculum Vitae. Let other students help you put your resume together as you are building your applications.
  2. Continue last month’s discussion on work/life balance. How do you make sure you are getting what you really want from work/life in the midst of daily demands? Get tips from others of what has worked (or not worked!) for them.
