In addition to vacation days, residents receive 5 working days for CME and one week of leave at Christmas/New Years.
Insurance
The University of Tennessee provides a comprehensive insurance package including:
- Health & Dental Coverage by Cigna. The University pays 80% of premiums.
- Group Term Life Insurance of $50,000
- Long Term Disability Insurance with several plans to choose from.
- Liability insurance is provided through the Tennessee Board of Claims.
Uniforms
The program provides each resident with three lab coats for PGY-1 residents and three additional lab coats for PGY-II and III residents. A total of 9 lab coats during your residency.
Meals
Meals are provided for free at the hospital physician's dining room and there is also a stipend given to all residents to use in the hospital cafeteria when On-Call. In addition, our resident's lounge is stocked weekly with various breakfast foods, sandwiches, and snacks.
