Hobbies: Spending time with my wife and little girl. I love playing sports of all kids, but especially rugby and football. I am an avid outdoorsman and my ultimate goal in life is to become a professional fisherman on the FLW tour during my spare time. I also enjoy avoiding having to paint or move anything (especially houses).
What I did before medical school: College, semester off to work, got married and moved to Memphis
Why I chose UT-Jackson: Jackson started as my 3rd choice when i was interviewing. However, all of the people in Jackson seemed to love where they were at and got along with each other. The program also appeared to have some of the best training in the state, if not the south.
What I want people to know about me: I am married to my beautiful wife Jessica and have an amazing little girl, Abigail. I love spending time with them whenever possible. When I'm not spending time with my family or working, I love to be on the water searching for the Big One. I recently started hunting thanks to my brother and a friend in medical school, which has added several hobbies to my list of things I love to do. I have a very close-knit family and have grown up believing when a family member is in need, you help then without asking questions. The family aspect of Jackson was a big attraction for me choosing where I wanted to do my residency.

Why I chose UT-Jackson: Location was a major factor in first deciding where to interview. I wanted to be near my girlfriend in Memphis without having to actually live in a city that large. When I came for the interview, all of the residents were happy and seemed to get along really well. I also liked the fact that there was an Emergency Medicine fellowship available. I felt as if the UT-Jackson program offered the best training in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. When reviewing all the programs I interviewed at, I felt as if it was the best fit for me.
What I want people to know about me: First and foremost I am a devout Christian. I grew up on a Black Angus cattle farm in Southern Virginia where family values are important. My girlfriend Amanda is in optometry school in Memphis, TN. I am an outdoorsman who also enjoys an occasional lazy day on the couch watching sports. I am an easy going person who likes meeting new friends, so if you have any other questions, just ask.

What I did before medical school: I took a year off between undergraduate and medical school when I worked in family medicine clinic and Vanderbilt Hospital as a CNA (where I met my beautiful wife).
Why I chose UT-Jackson: After doing 3 months of rotations in Jackson and meeting faculty, residents, and staff, I felt very comfortable with the program and that it would challenge me as a resident myself. Jackson reminded me of an area that I would like to practice medicine someday on my own, and I was also interested in staying for a 4th year to complete the EM Fellowship that is offered.
What I want people to know about me: I strongly believe that if you trust God's direction and treat everyone with respect that your life will be rewarded and simplified. Anything else you want to know, come by Jackson, TN and ask me.

There is a great balance in life and medicine at this program.
